090916 CN Tower, Toronto

As far as I am concerned, it is my first experience standing on a glass flour which is 1,122 ft above the ground.

This Chinese woman is diplaying her courage by sprawling on the glass floor.

After much cajoling, I undertake the much intimidating task of standing on the glass floor. The feeling is exhilarating just before you overcome the acrophobia. My feet are literally suspended above the Rogers Centre.

A close-up look from below. The bright area is the glass floor. Apparently, the whole floor is made of glass but only certain section is exposed for the visitors to experience the "free fall" sensation.

An experience that you must not miss even though you might reluctant to plunck down your money for the 21 canadian dollar entrance ticket.

CN Tower as seen from Toronto Island, on its left is the Rogers Centre.

The Consulate General of Malaysia in New York

There is a website put up by the Wisma Putra at
http://www.kln.gov.my/perwakilan/newyork/profile

There is only one photo there. I only want to be a busy body by showing more pictures.

Enjoy

When I was there, the office was close. So I only managed to take few photos.

Introduction to Apple

How much do you know about apple?
As far as I am concerned, I don't know much about the name. Therefore, I like to catalogue some of the apple found in US. For ease of reference, I have secretly included the price.

Small red delicious apple
I have a feeling that the owner also does not know the name, it is so general, perhaps, you can call it petite luscious crimson apple

The Curious Case of Pocket Knife

It is not that I am running out of idea to blog, but why blogging about this pocket knife. Please read on.

This knife was procured when I arrived on the first day in Yunan. I was deeply attracted by the vast choices of fruits sold by a hawker stationed near the hotel. "You can buy a pocket knife from that shop," said the fruit seller. The main usage was to peel mango skin. Since then, it has been playing hide and seek with me for few years. Oblivious of its presence in my suitcase, the knife had also unwittingly landed in New York.

Thinking that it might have of some use, I kept it in my hidden pocket. Again, I forgot about it again.
First Episode
As I was meeting someone from Malaysia at the Post Office, United Nations, the knife also had a free ride to this place.
In order to enter the UN, I had to remove my belt, jacket, coins, cellphones, camera and shoe. All these items were placed in the tray provided.
Strange enough, I could not clear the metal-detecting gate. One more try, it failed again. How could I be made of metal. It was at this crucial moment that I realised that the knife had been hibernating in my pocket.
Do you think it is an offence to bring along a knife to UN?
Could you imagine my fear as I could be branded as a terrorist or even worst, be arrested.
I had no choice but to hand over the knife to the security guard and kept my fingers cross. "Follow me this way," commanded the security personnel,"do you have any photo ID?"
"Satu Lapan Empat .......,"the security personnel read out my ID number. Wait a second, the white man could speak Malay. Suddenly, the atmosphere had become less tense and I started to strike a deeper conversation with him. "I worked in East Timur before,"said the security personnel, "...... you can collect your knife on your way out, just tap on this window."
It was a big relief that no action was taken against me.
Second Episode
It happened in the laundry shop.
After washing, the clothings were loaded into dryer. Half way through the drying process, metallic knocking sound was emitted from the dryer. Upon checking, it was caused by that pocket knife again. Thank goodness, the lady boss did not notice it.
Just wonder what kind of havoc this pocket knife will cause in future.

090911 September 11

The sky cries for those who perished in the horrific September 11 terrorist attacks eight years ago.
As the whole day is raining cat and dog, my scheduled visit to the Ground Zero was shelved. Instead, I did my laundry in a coin-operated washing machine.

While waiting for the laundry to be ready, catch up some news at this public library. The have video rental free for three days. They also provide free internet use. So nice.

Vietnamese Beef Pho for lunch

After this meal, sleep zzzzzz

Alaska Cruise- US$25 dinner

Most of the restaurants on board serve free foods. However, if you want to have something special, they have what they called speciality restaurants that proffer higher standard foods. There are 8 such restaurants onboard. For tonight dinning, Cagney's has been chosen. A cover charge of $25 and 17.5% gratuity are automatically transcribed into your ship's bill.

Mixed nuts are contained in a very nice jar.

1/2 dozen Oysters Rockefellar

10 oz. New York Strip

Salmon Oscar
Alaskan King Crab Leg, Chive Butter

Broiled Lobster Tail
Drawn Butter
10 oz Filet Mignon ( Golden Angus Beef )

What is your verdict?
Would you pay extra $25 to savour all these foods ?

P.S.
The lobster tail and alaskan king crab leg are additional items which, again, you have to pay $10 per dish.
