Christmas Eve Dinner organised by the Church of the Good Shepherd , Johor Bahru

Yesterday was Christmas Eve. This is one the many days in a year that can not be pretermitted by Christians or non believers of Christianity alike.
Again, I was blessed to be invited to attend a Christmas Eve Dinner by my erudite friend, a dermatogist. The impresario of dinner was the Church of The Good Shepherd, Johor Bahru.

A few minutes more, I would be arriving at the restaurant to be part of the party of merrymaking and feasting.

Have you ever wondered why there was a single playing card placed facing downward? The answer is to be made known as you scroll down.

Everyone was given this coupon which entitled one to a lucky draw. Were I lucky this time?

With her loquacious and punchy quip, this m.c. controlled the crowd like a puppet on a string.

When the m.c. said,"Raise your hand." True enough, you saw a sea of flailing hands pointing upwards.

Pastor offered his prayer.

A chain of events was kicked off after the prayer. Here we witnessed the hymns singing performed by the church members.

Singing by the most eligible senior mentors.

Jazz Dance.

Besides merrymaking, you were not spared of the feasting too.

Food Presentation performed by the staff of restaurant. It somehow became a protocol in most of the dinner functions.

After the food presentation, the first dish was duly served .

Again, we were wrong in using these glow tubes to decorate our bodies. It had a specific role to play as more events were unfolded by the m.c.

The glow tubes were to be used as prop in the competition where each team was required to construct and produce the longest strand.

At this junction, the card was still lying there, creating more intense atmosphere.

OK. The riddle behind the card was solved. Each table was allocated a card and the mission was to find a matching card from a different tables with similar point but with opposite colour.

Second dish was served. A double-boiled soup with lot and lot of dried scallop cooked together with black chicken. I could not resist the good taste and lost count the number of serving that I had.

A closer look at the soup - black chicken with fish stomach?

Third dish, a crispy oat-coated prawn.

Lucky draw time - True enough. I won a prize.

I had not opened the box yet; I will use it as a gift for someone else.

The sketch performed by these youths was allegory for Christian teachings.

Pastor eulogized wholeheartedly on the meaning of "Jesus Light of the World" in English. The lady did a real time translation into Chinese.

Fourth Dish - Crispy Roast chicken.

Nice chandeliers on the ceiling.

A closer look.

This cheese cake was one of the prizes given out. It was won by a neighbouring table, so we were lucky to be given a substantial slice for tasting purpose.

Fifth Dish - Ling Zhi Mushroom + Brocolli + Bean Curd Skin.

Sixth Dish - Nyonya sea bass.

Seventh Dish - Glutinous rice in lotus leaf.

Chinese Cultural Dance.

Water Drinking competition - participants aged above 11. The champion ended vomiting all the food consumed due to displacement by water.

Enactment of Joseph and Mary and the Birth of Jesus.

Three teams comprising 3 members each acted the scene where Jesus was borned. The sound effect was provided by the assembled spectators. Please look at the videos at Youtube in order to appreciate their shticks.

Eighth Dish - Dessert - Chilled honeydew melon with sago.

A hugh screen, displaying the lyrics of the hymns.

The function ended with the presentation of hymns singing from the dedicated church members.

You also can watch the full length recording of all the performances at YouTube.

Standard Answer to A Question about Ancient Egypt ?

Ancient Egypt was inhabited by mummies, and they all wrote in hydraulics. They lived in the Sarah Dessert, which they cultivated by irritation. Ancient Egyptian women wore a loose-fitting garment which began just below the breasts which hung to the floor.

Wantan Mee - Eatery in Johor Bahru

BREVITY IS THE SOUL OF WIT

LORD POLONIUS
This business is well ended.
My liege, and madam, to expostulate
What majesty should be, what duty is,
Why day is day, night night, and time is time,
Were nothing but to waste night, day and time.
Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit,
And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes,
I will be brief: your noble son is mad:
Mad call I it; for, to define true madness,
What is't but to be nothing else but mad?
But let that go.

( I don't intend to bloviate in this post so you don't have to waste too much time here).

Let us play a treasure hunt here, please triangulate the treasure yourself.

A very common sight in Malaysia where tables and chairs are occupying the walking corridor.
Clinically, this restaurant obtained B grade in terms of cleanliness from the local authority.

I like the furnitures, very solid looking.

Wonder why the label was still attached to the plastic container? Are they thinking of getting an exchange or return?

Do you notice that this restaurant has a website at http://yitfoh.com

My friend ordered ice kopi O.

This was mine.
It belonged to another friend of mine.

Study the colour of the mee, it is not tainted with black soya sauce. Not a common preparation in Johor Bahru. But, I was taught to savour the wantan mee without black soya sauce since I was a tot. In fact, that is my personal preference which most of friends take notice of.

Wantan soup.

VERDICT

Actually, there is no verdict as nobody files any case in Court. Being the case, how do you get the judgement.

The intention of this post is to document the event happened at this place. Anywhere, barely one hour later, we went back for the second round.
