*Day 7 – October 31, 2025: Jingzhou City – History, Heritage, and Evening Glamour*
Today’s blog entry is a visual celebration of *Jingzhou*, a city steeped in history and culture. While the places we visited are well documented online, we’ve included just enough detail to guide the narrative—leaving room for the photos to speak for themselves.

*🏯 Morning: Jingzhou Ancient City Wall (荆州古城墙)*
We began our day exploring the *Jingzhou Ancient City Wall*, one of the best-preserved city walls in southern China. Originally constructed over 2,000 years ago during the Spring and Autumn Period, the wall was later rebuilt during the *Ming and Qing Dynasties*. It stretches over *10 kilometers*, encircling the old city with its formidable brick and stone structure.
The wall’s design includes *Water City*, *Brick City*, and *Earth City*, with a surrounding moat and strategically placed gates. The *Binyang Tower*, located at the eastern gate, offers panoramic views and insight into ancient military architecture⁽¹⁾⁽²⁾.

*🏛️ Midday: Jingzhou Museum (荆州博物馆)*
Next, we visited the *Jingzhou Museum*, a treasure trove of archaeological wonders. Established in 1958, the museum houses over *196,000 artifacts*, including jade ornaments, lacquerware, silk textiles, and ancient weapons from the *Warring States* and *Han periods* ⁽³⁾.
The highlight of the visit was viewing one of the museum’s *well-preserved cadavers*, dating back over 2,000 years. These mummies are renowned for their remarkable preservation—skin, hair, and even internal organs remain intact, offering a rare glimpse into ancient burial practices and medical knowledge.

*🎭 Evening: Century Legend Crew Cabaret Show*
After a day immersed in history, the evening brought a change of pace with the *Century Legend Crew Cabaret Show* aboard our cruise ship. The performance featured music, dance, and theatrical sketches by the ship’s talented crew. It was a lively, colorful production that blended traditional Chinese elements with modern flair—perfect for unwinding and celebrating the journey so far.
