090824 (2) Silver Kris Lounge, Changi Airport

I am not awared that there is a special entrance for the First Class Check-In at the Terminal 3, Changi Airport. My "driver friend" spots that entrance but is too late to reverse the car, so I am dropped at the usual entrances that serve the "ordinary" passengers.

Inside the T3, I am shown the direction to the First Class Check-In Office. SIA has made the First Class Check-In to be an experience not to be forgotten easily. It is done over "desk" inside this entrance. There is no Q, you sit in front of a desk while the staff is preparing your boarding pass.

My boarding Pass

No wonder you don't see the First Class Check-In counter in the many "check-in rows" inside the T3. You can only find Economy and Business Section.

The locations of 1st Class Office, Immigration Office and the Silver Kris Lounge have been arranged like an assembly line in a factory; you walk from one to another without losing your way.

The Immigration Officer is extremely courteous in clearing my embarkation process, so it is done very swiftly, very different from the long processing time often experienced at the Woodland CIQ.

Invitation to the Private Room

By virtue of the card, I am able to explore this mystic place.

The Silver Kris Lounge is like a labyrinth which houses "two" main sections, namely 1st Class and Business Class. However, to access the Private Room, you have to be escorted as it is seated deeply inside the Silver Kris Lounge. It is the ultimate room as the entrance is by invitation only.

You have to pass this 1st Class Section in order to access the Private Room

The over crowded 1st Class Lounge

Upon escorted into this special area called "The Private Room", I am asked to choose a favourite spot where I can rest till my flight time at 1.05 am next day.

The staff manning this exclusive place must be commended for their impeccable services. Have you ever asked yourself, do you usually remember your new friend's name with great ease? More often you just don't recall. No insult on your intelligence intended. Over here, the staff remember you so well that you feel why your friends can't be like them.

The Internet Facility

Very Very Big Plasma TV - Not One but more than One

The Dining Area

Very much unlike what you see in the 1st Class Lounge, the ambience and decor allure you to stay put, enticing you to eat endlessly.

The garçon sensing that I have sank comfortably into the plush soft leather winged chair, presents menu framed inside leather folder and ready to take orders from me. "Sir, may I present the menu for today's selection. How about a drink to start your day.", asked the waiter. With the multiple choices present, I order cranberry as my first drink, followed by Cream of leek and potato soup.

Cream of leek and potato soup

As my lunch entree, U.S. Prime Beef burger with Foie Gras, Rocket Leaf and Fried Quail Egg

Approaching dinner time, " We have few selection for your dinner. Would you like to have a lobster, it is very good today ?". the Chef suggested. I hesitate a while and decide to accept his suggestion. The chef continues," Sir, you make the right decision."

linguine with Poached Boston lobster

Braised wintermelon soup
This soup is prepared with premier quality stuffs with generous use of dried scallop

For my supper, I have Baked Cod Fish with Green Pea and Tomato Mango Confit.

As a finale, I have 2 scopes of top quality ice cream . But how come there is another plate with single scope of ice cream? This is taken after the dinner. What is the difference between dinner and supper when there is shift in time zone.

The Lavatory

This section always fascinates me as different countries have different settings with regards to the urinal and so on and so forth. They always come in different sizes and shapes and vary from country to country.

The shower has too many knobs for controlling the directions of water flows, you must be borne with few more hands to handle this. Here the big let down is they offer bulk hair and body shampoo dispensed from the wall - it is a big discount to the luxury that the authority concerned wants to maintain.

Male urinal

As a class of distinction, they use hand towel instead of paper towel

In this basket, you can find mouth wash, comb, toothbrush, ...
But it can't compete the paraphernalia offered by the First Class Lounge in Narita.. look out for my next posting

Hi Aik Tong, having seen the photos of the private room in the Silver Kris Lounge, I now know why you have to go to the Changi Airport that early. You must be like living in Cloud 9 & I really envy you. Thanks for opening my eyes & wonder when I could have a chance to travel 1st class & enjoy all the hospitalities that come along with it. May I know how much it cost you? Is there is time limit to stay in the private room? Can you go in a few days b4 the time of departure??
So keep posting your travel news & photos. I had already saved your blog under my favorite menu.
Life in JB goes on as usual; a bit wet in the early mornings of Mon & Tue. Am going to Jogjakarta with a group of friends this Saturday.
