Chicken Rice - Relive Childhood Experience

When I was at a tender age, my father used to take me and my siblings to Singapore for entertainment. The entertainment entailed watching movie, good foods, sight seeing, shopping and, don't laugh, staying in a Chinaman Hotel in Bugis Street.
We used to sample quite a variety of foods, amongst other, chicken rice, shark fin soup, steam boat, cashew nuts, herbal drinks. As far as chicken rice is concerned, we would go to Swee Kee in Middle Road. The smell and taste had since entrenched in my memory that chicken rice had to be of this quality. Of course, many years later, I did discover many eateries specialised in good chicken rice were far and near. Due to reasons not best known to me, suddenly all these players were wiped out from Singapore. Of course, the blogger of "ieatishootipost" vows that such chicken rice eateries still exist. Sad to say, I beg to differ. It is more of few and far between. The quality is still left much to be desired.

As the Hokkien Cliche goes, if you don't have fish, prawn will fill in the place. The following restaurant located near Senai International Airport comes quite close to the specifications of Swee Kee in terms of presentation , namely, chilli sauce, minced ginger, black soya sauce, soup, chicken rice and etc.

Half a chicken goes for RM16.00

Chicken liver sans gizzard.
The chicken rice is cooked without the addition of margarine which is not a normal practice if you order it in Kuala Lumpur. So stay away from trans-fat. Price : RM1.00 per bowl.

The soup consists of dried "winter vegetable", cabbage and the taste is quite close to the one offered by Swee Kee.

Coconut was not a standard item of Swee Kee in Singapore. So, I have to do give a discount to the presentation.

I have no comment on the foods neither do I want to recommend this eatery because I don't want to make them feel as though they owe me a debt of gratitude.
