Romeo and Juliet, Verona, Italy

I travelled all the way from Milan to Verona, a distance of 164 km, just to look at the residence of Juliet. Believe it or not ?

This town Verona is mentioned in the prologue in the Shakespeare play - "Romeo and Juliet". An extract is produced here for the benefit of reader.

"Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
......
.......
......"

This statue seems to follow you every where you go in Italy. He is always there before you do. I can prove it to in my later post. Strange.

A scale down Roman Arena - some what similar to the one in Rome

On the way to the residence of Juliet.
Piazza Bra.

Many branded shops are on both sides of this lane.

The road is made of marble. See texture to estimate the life span.

Masks are very common souvenirs sold everywhere.

Casa di Giulietta.
According to the reliable source, there was no concrete evidence to show that Shakespeare did visit this place. It was all because he mentioned it in his "Romeo and Juliet".

Love and romantic messages left by those who sought eternal love.

This is the balcony mentioned in "Romeo and Juliet" by Shakespeare. It is the most famous landmark in Verona.

Look at the crowd, there were hardly any space for you to squeeze in.

This is an interesting animated video found in the YouTube about this balcony.

Can you again spot the shiny area of this statute?

You are supposed to rub the Juliet's "right" breast for luck. Due to the number of luck seekers., it was nearly impossible to perform this.

To enter this old building, you have to pay six euro. If you want to re-act Juliet's play at the balcony, maybe it is worthwhile to spend this kind of money. I don't know.

See, I only managed to hold on to the hand. I hope it is sufficient to bring me luck.

Lamberti Tower, Torre dei Lamberti
It was Sunday, but this town was so crowded.

Look at the cobblestone. Very common in Europe.

This WC in MacDonald is decorated with avante garde light.

If you happen to go to Verona, please take note of this MacDonald. You could save one euro for visiting WC. It is not easy to find WC in Europe.

River in Verona.
Next stop, Genoa.
