Korean Dinner - Eatery in Johor Bahru

Pleasure derived from travelling is akin to food consumption. You don't have to agree with me. I am not going to dissertate on this premise.

In Johor Bahru, you can get quite a wide spectrum of foods if you do not mind the qualities. Korean food used to be dominated by two outlets operated from residential houses. So the story goes, they had come out from domestic service and transformed into a commercial entity.

As for tonight's food, I have no inkling of its origin.

The owner has taken great pain in ensuring that any visible suspension of carbon or particles in air generated from the BBQ is allayed by the sophisticated elephant trunks hanging down from the ceiling.

Another closer look at the elephant trunk.

Maybe you are just as curious as me, so now I show you the orifice. Satisfy?

Look at the broad gamut of provenders - names that only Korean will know

Another variant of provenders - but fit for human consumption.

Chilli sauce + Garlic chips + Sliced Green Chilli

They use charcoal for BBQ. Due to upward draught effect, the charcoal is brought to life faster. The sirocco thus created makes those sitting in close proximity with the grill uncomfortable.

Is red wine well suited for Korean foods?

Ginseng Chicken soup.

This is the way to serve ginseng chicken soup.

They treat the grill surface with big onion. On the hind sight, I realised it was ox tongue.
Sirloin steak.

Besides the high-tech exhaust system, this small button does play a small role - it makes your table perceptible to the management.

Kim Chi Soup - very good - is it because it is on the house from the boss ?
Finally, before you leave, you are given "Yakult" and well-wishing in Korean - I think so.
