Ponte Sant'Angelo - Rome

Angels Bridge

My tour guide has a different interpretation about the origin of this bridge. I google and can not find any record which says otherwise. Anywhere, it is a privileged information only known to my tour guide.
OK, this is his version about the bridge for those readers who are yet to learn Cantonese.
In 1869, plague tormented and killed thousand and thousand of people in Rome. The church officials appealed to the God at this particular location for help. True enough, the prayer was answered and angels descended from sky. In return, they constructed this bridge to thank the God.
