Kinderdijk Windmill ( Molens ) - UNESCO World Heritage

This afternoon, the weather is not that good. As you can see from the picture, the sky is very cloudy. The rain is imminent at any time. Notwithstanding the bad weather, we have to make the visit to Kinderdijk Molens because it will be closed for winters.

The journey from Aphen aan den Rijn to Kinderdijk takes about one hour. On the way, you can see many typical Dutch houses separated by very narrow street. The speed limit is set at 50km/hr.

As winter is approaching, you don't see many visitors at this time.

This is the cruise ship that sails along a very short stretch of river.

While waiting for the cruise ship to sail, we are quite happy watching some fishing activity that goes on.

In Netherlands, the road is always clearly marked with signs. For this small road, it is meant for bicycle. So, please use the lane designated for walking.

The windmills or molens in Dutch, can be seen lining up along the river banks.

These kinds of ducks can be found in many rivers.

As you can see from the signboard, the windmill will close on 1 November.

As the cruise will only sail with a minimum of 4 passangers, so we charter the whole boat, buying 4 tickets for three persons.

This windmill was built in the year of 1740.

Two bus-load of visitors happen to drop by.

This molen is open to the public.

Coin-operated toilet. 0.50 euro per transaction.

If you happen to be here, please try the river cruise. It is very therapeutic; leaving all your worries behind you.
